Our first premier event for the year last weekend ran super well with an awesome turnout, and a late shift from Portsea to Rye proving to be contestable conditions with 2-3ft hollow rip bowls most of the day.
Always great to welcome new members pushing the standard of Bodyboarding, with a bunch of new faces taking out impressive finishes.
The judges had a tight contest to assess all day, with a heap of expertly chained multiple move rides, some impressive strategic bank choices (notably Alex Ashcroft), huge risky punts to the flat, moves we've never even seen before (shoutout to Corey Daglish), and a bunch of glassy cover ups. Also shout out to the mega talented family combo of Ben & Tully Roberts, combining for a marathon performance of almost ten heats on the day, with Ben's lofty ARS taking out one of the best single moves of the day.
The most important barrel of the day was conquered by Nathan Clark (pictured), sealing his impressive Open Mens win; dethroning some of the other club stalwarts of the prized division (plus a Grand Masters win to boot).
Congratulations everyone who entered, and a huge thank you for everyone involved making it possible, and elevating Bodyboarding in Vicco. Yew!
